Greetings Chapman Swift Families,
Happy February! While this is the shortest month of the year, we seem to pack it with so many important celebrations and activities. It’s Black History Month and, although we include multiple perspectives and black history throughout our teaching, this is a special month to celebrate Black excellence in our country. students will be learning about important Black Americans and then displaying what they’ve learned throughout the school. Students will be doing a “gallery walk” at the end of the month to learn about what other classes have been studying. We’ll share pictures as the month progresses!
Next week is also Counselor Appreciation Week and it falls in a month where we will be focused as a school on Friendship and Kindness. Mr. Hall and Ms. Oz, our school counselors, have chosen a career that prioritizes care. They teach us how to care for ourselves and for others. During their special week, consider an act of kindness, friendship, or compassion and then let them know they inspired you!
Compliment a classmate
Thank our counselors for how hard they are working
Take a minute to pause and be mindful
Make a card for an elderly resident in our community
Think of other ways you can be kind to others
Tell yourself something you like about yourself
Give someone who is important to you a big smile
Let’s show our counselors that their work matters, and spread the care around!!
Save the Date!! We will be holding a Spring Performance this year. Mr. Clark and his 4th/5th grade chorus will be performing songs from The Wizard of Oz on the evening of June 8th.
I hope everyone is planning on coming to the Winter Festival on Saturday the 11th. Please see below for more information!
