Soaring Swifts,
We want to take a moment to recognize everyone in the Chapman community for their resilience and perseverance to come back from one adversity after another this year. It has been hard, it feels like many different starts to the year. It has required a lot of energy and focus. Students especially have worked hard to get back in the rhythm of learning. Thank you teachers and parents for guiding them through it.
Thanks to students’ efforts to do their best and ‘get caught in the action’, the school has filled up our Chimney with Swift Tickets! Swift Tickets are earned when students are caught being Safe, Respectful and Responsible in class and in other areas of the school. We collect these in a small Chimney and as a way to celebrate this community success, we are having a school wide Virtual Bingo soon where many will win a prize.
We have a couple of announcements. This past Thursday, Jan. 25, the school carried out a Team Response Drill. These happen once a year in addition to the monthly fire drill and others you can learn more about from the PPS Emergency Management site. A Team Response is mostly a practice for staff on how to respond when there is a medical emergency in the building. Students and teachers have a low impact, they are asked to stay in their classroom and continue business as usual. The intent is to clear the hallways for the emergency responders. We carried out a scenario and the response team had the right response. Everyone did great!
A reminder that this Monday, Jan. 29, is a teacher planning day, no school for students. Our school calendar has changed and we have five remaining days to add back:
February 19 (Presidents Day)
April 8
June 12,13,14
Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend!
