A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL VAN DER WOLF

Greetings Chapman Swift Families,

November is an odd month in the calendar of PPS; students and teachers feel like we’re finally getting into the swing of things with one quarter behind us and we’re suddenly met with abbreviated weeks and the holiday season. This year, PPS has added additional days for teachers to be able to collaborate and plan upcoming instruction as well as review student work and complete report cards. Report cards will be available to view this Friday, Nov. 8. In an effort to align with the district’s Climate Justice policy, PPS has moved to paperless report cards as our district default. Families are encouraged to view report cards online in ParentVUE. Here are the instructions on how to navigate ParentVUE. If you would like a printed copy, please select that option in ParentVUE.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conference days are coming up! Please make sure you have signed up for a conference with your child’s teacher. We will be holding daytime and evening conferences on both Monday, Nov. 25th and Tuesday, Nov. 26th. This is an important time for teachers and parents to be able to communicate and collaborate together for your child’s academic success. Please keep in mind that teachers can guarantee only one conference slot per student.

The Successful Schools Survey opened Friday, Nov. 1st: Your voice is important and Chapman wants to hear from you! Please follow this link to information about the Successful Schools Survey for families (closes Dec.6th).

WORLD KINDNESS DAY IS NOVEMBER 13

November is a month of gratitude, giving, and global kindness. Small gestures, heartfelt thanks, and simple acts of kindness can create waves of positivity that extend beyond a single day.

Did you know there are scientifically proven benefits of being kind?

Being kind increases oxytocin, your energy, your lifespan, your brain's pleasure and reward center, and serotonin!

Being kind decreases pain, stress, anxiety, depression, and blood pressure!

Being kind is a win-win!

CHAPMAN COMMUNITY OF CARE

This November, Darcy Wilde, School Social Worker, is launching the Chapman Community of Care program. Families will have the opportunity to support their fellow families by responding to a call for Community Care. If there are material item needs that a family has requested that Chapman's Student Support team is unable to access from school or community resources, a call for community care will be put out. The need will be shared with the family’s consent and it will be anonymous.

You can respond to this call by donating the item and/or donating giftcards.

More information to come! Contact Darcy for more information at dwilde@pps.net or 971-716-5498
