A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL VAN DER WOLF

February may be the shortest month of the year, but it truly feels like it is jam-packed with learning and excitement! Students just finished their mid-year math and reading exams and teachers have been using the information from each to look at student growth and determine what each student needs, whether it be more practice with certain skills or some additional small group instruction or maybe more challenging learning.

We have an exciting partnership in the works for families who want to know more about how to help their K-2 child at home with learning to read. Paloma is a new tool we are providing families that provides personalized instruction to help support their child’s learning with just 15 minutes a day. We are excited to try this new tool out!

Please join us for our PTA meeting tomorrow evening at 6:00. We will be discussing school budget issues and have a special guest. Principal Jill Hunt will be joining our meeting to talk about the middle school experience.

I’m excited about our Tall/Small Dance coming up this Friday. More details are below, but this is an opportunity for students to have a ball with their parents and guardians. Put on your dancing shoes and boogie down with us!

TUESDAY KINDER LIBRARY HELP

Later this month, our Kindergartners will begin to learn how use shelf markers and check out books from the Chapman library, and Ms. Juska needs some help. She would love to have a regular volunteer come in each Tuesday to assist. Please sign up here if you're available. (This links to the entire schedule, but the Tuesday Kinder shift is a specific need request.)

CHAPMAN STAFF RUNS ON COFFEE

We need your help with our bimonthly coffee cart. A staff favorite - and an easy way to bring smiles and cheer to the caffeinated at Chapman. Each Coffee Cart day needs 1-2 volunteers to provide homemade or store bought treats for teachers & school staff along with coffee. Volunteers will roll the coffee cart to each classroom, distributing coffee and treats to teachers, helpers and staff along they way. Sign up here.

Darcy Wilde, Chapman Social Worker, has these red cards in all languages if you would like one for yourself or community members. You can also access them at https://www.ilrc.org/redcards
