A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL VAN DER WOLF

Thank you to the PTA for putting on the incredible Tall/Small Dance last Friday! It was so much fun seeing everyone having fun on the dance floor and taking goofy pictures at the photo booth! This is just an example of the many wonderful things our PTA does and parent volunteers do for us. If you would like to be a part of helping the PTA out, please consider joining!

At our recent PTA meeting, I presented information about next year’s budget and school staffing. As you are likely aware, districts across the state of Oregon are having to make large budget cuts due to a lack of state funding. This year, Chapman was mostly protected from the bulk of the district budget cuts, but next year we will be experiencing some significant cuts. In order to meet budget demands, PPS is creating blends in many schools, including Chapman. Next year, our 4th and 5th graders are forecasted to be in 4/5 blends. This is a model that we have not done at Chapman in many years, but many schools have been doing this. As with any change there are pros and cons to the model and we are still in the learning phase about how this will work at our school. The district is asking for your feedback on all school budget issues. Please use the QR code below to ask questions and share your feedback.

PPS Budget Engagement Feedback

The form is designed to gather reflections, concerns and ideas as PPS works through budget choices. You can visit the PPS Budget Webpage to stay updated.

TALL SMALL GEAR

Did you forget your wallet? Miss the table? We have Tall Small shirts leftover if you would like to grab yours. $20 for youth and adults sizes. Email chapmanschoolpta@gmail.com and we can make arrangements.

TUESDAY KINDER LIBRARY HELP

Later this month, our Kindergartners will begin to learn how use shelf markers and check out books from the Chapman library, and Ms. Juska needs some help. She would love to have a regular volunteer come in each Tuesday to assist. Please sign up here if you're available. (This links to the entire schedule, but the Tuesday Kinder shift is a specific need request.)
