A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL VAN DER WOLF

With Spring Break happening next week, it seems like this year is flying by; it’s already time to start planning for next year. We are holding our first Kindergarten Connect event next month. If you have an incoming kindergartner for the 26-27 school year, please join us! If you know anyone else who might be interested, please share the information with them. Kindergarten Connect will be on Thursday, 4/15 at 6:00. We will be sharing information about our kindergarten program, as well as how to enroll. We will also be answering ALL the questions and taking a tour of the building.

We are working hard to help every child learn, but it is a huge challenge when students don’t come to school regularly. We have seen great improvement over the last few weeks, especially in our Kindergarten, 1st, and 4th grade classes, and with individual students with whom we’ve been working closely. Congrats to everyone who is showing improved or already stellar attendance! Did you know that when children miss more than 2 days a month, or 17 days a year they are considered chronically absent? And missing more than 10% of the school year can make it harder to learn to read. We want the very best for our students and believe the best gift we can give them is a good education. If your child is struggling with attendance, please reach out to our school social worker, Darcy Wilde at dwilde@pps.net or at 971-716-5498.

WEDNESDAY PANTRY POP-UP

We could also use fresh food donations (bread, milk, butter, yogurt, fruits & vegetables) in time for our Market pop-up on Wednesday afternoon. We do have one refrigerator in Room 12 to store these goods prior to families coming in for the pop-up market.

Pop-Up market hours are Wednesday, March 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Please come by and grab what you need ahead of Spring Break.

OBOB: WHO LET THE BOOKS OUT

Congratulations to our regional Oregon Battle of the Books team, Who Let the Books Out! Consisting of fourth graders Olivia Jee, Lucy Price, Waylon Kroll, Lilah Kroll and Marie Reff. They won all of their battles at Chapman, and this past Saturday, March 14, they competed at the all-PPS 3-5 regional battles. If you see one of these reading superstars, be sure to congratulate them on this year's success!

DINING FOR DOLLARS: MARCH 17

Throw on your green garb and click your heels on down to Laughing Planet to dine with the dinosaurs for St. Patrick's Day. On Tues., March 17, 10% of all sales will go to Chapman.
