Meet our school support team!

Dear Chapman Families,

I am the new school counselor at Chapman and feel honored to be part of this special community. This is my fifteenth year as a school counselor and I look forward to being at school each day to help students build their confidence, social-emotional skills, sense of belonging, and self-advocacy.

School plays such a critical role in our children’s daily lives, preparation for life, and identity development. My role facilitates growth in these areas through the following counseling activities:

  • Classroom guidance lessons

  •  Group counseling

  •  Individual check-ins

  •  Conflict resolution sessions

  •  Parent and teacher collaboration

  •  Crisis intervention

  •  Student Support Plans for students with higher-level needs

An important part of my role is collaborating with families about their children’s needs. Please reach out to me if you have concerns about your child’s development, well-being (e.g., social-emotional needs), friendships, sense of belonging, confidence, and more. I am happy to set up an in-person or online meeting, or communicate via phone or email if preferable. I understand how precious and limited your time is and will ensure our meeting works with your schedule.

I will regularly communicate with you about upcoming classroom lessons as your child’s learning about the topics I will be covering is enhanced via follow-up discussions at home.

I look forward to collaborating with you all!

Warmly,  Steffany

Darcy Wilde, School Social Worker

Hello Chapman Families,

I know that students succeed in school when all of their needs are met inside and outside the classroom. I want to help your child thrive in the school environment by supporting them and your family. By working together with parents, staff and the community, we can make sure every child has what they need to be successful academically, physically, socially and emotionally.

Please contact me if you need resources or referrals for:

  • Mental health

  • Medical/Dental/Vision

  • Support around the holidays

  • Food

  • Clothing

  • Housing

  • Family Support

  • Addiction/Recovery

  • School Pictures

  • Costumes for Champan’s Costume Parade

I will be completing a strengths and needs assessment of the school. I want to learn more about what you love about Chapman, what you wish was different and what you feel is missing or needed. If you know of a business, organization or person that can help make Chapman even better, let me know!

My hope is to strengthen the connections between school, home and the community so that Chapman is a welcoming and safe place for all students and families. Please visit me at Back to School Night and introduce yourself! I am very happy to be here everyday at Chapman!

CHAPMAN NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Please consider VOLUNTEERING at our school to support a wonderful 2024-2025 experience for our students!

So much of what makes Chapman a wonderful place is our community of volunteers, including event help and classroom assistance. Start by submitting your PPS volunteer application and background check. And then check out Chapman's volunteer portal for needs and opportunities.

Upcoming opportunities include:

Back to School Night Gear Sales

Scholastic Book Fair

Kinder lunch room help

Library organizing & class times

District clothing closet

Picture day

WHY BUY BOOKS FROM THE FAIR?

Each year we host two Scholastic Book Fairs, one in the fall and one in the Spring. The money earned from the Fair goes directly back into the school. Our school librarian uses the proceeds to buy books to keep our library updated. And kids who don't have funds will receive book vouchers, ensuring each kid at Chapman gets a book.

Where, oh where, did our swifts go?

You may be hearing (or seeing for yourself) that our migration of roosting Vaux Swifts have left the neighborhood. We're saddened by this, but keeping our fingers crossed that they return - next week or next year. Only time will tell. To read more about what may be happening, you can find information here
