Dear Chapman Families,
I am the new school counselor at Chapman and feel honored to be part of this special community. This is my fifteenth year as a school counselor and I look forward to being at school each day to help students build their confidence, social-emotional skills, sense of belonging, and self-advocacy.
School plays such a critical role in our children’s daily lives, preparation for life, and identity development. My role facilitates growth in these areas through the following counseling activities:
Classroom guidance lessons
Group counseling
Individual check-ins
Conflict resolution sessions
Parent and teacher collaboration
Crisis intervention
Student Support Plans for students with higher-level needs
An important part of my role is collaborating with families about their children’s needs. Please reach out to me if you have concerns about your child’s development, well-being (e.g., social-emotional needs), friendships, sense of belonging, confidence, and more. I am happy to set up an in-person or online meeting, or communicate via phone or email if preferable. I understand how precious and limited your time is and will ensure our meeting works with your schedule.
I will regularly communicate with you about upcoming classroom lessons as your child’s learning about the topics I will be covering is enhanced via follow-up discussions at home.
I look forward to collaborating with you all!
Warmly, Steffany
