A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL VAN DER WOLF

Greetings Chapman Families!

Last week at our first Principal Coffee, we looked at data reports from the assessments we give to students 3 times a year (Fall, Winter, and Spring )for both math and reading. These reports should have come home to you in your child’s weekly folder. We looked at the iReady Diagnostic which gives specific information about areas in math with which your child has strengths and weaknesses  and we also reviewed the two different literacy assessments we give—Amira, for our K-2 students, and Map Growth Reading for our 3-5 students. We noted that the teacher reports give more detailed information, so make sure to check in with your child’s teacher at our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences if you would like more detailed information.

Speaking of conferences, if you haven’t signed up yet, make sure to do that right away. This is an important time for you and our teachers to team together to support your child’s learning. Due to heavy demand, we can only give one conference spot per student.

Finally, many thanks  to Lift Up, PTA and parents who have donated to the Chapman Food Pantry. Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, Oregon is currently unable to issue November SNAP benefits, so the extra support is greatly appreciated.

  • If your family is hungry, please call/text Darcy 971-716-5498 or dwilde@pps.net.

  • If you are able to donate food or gift cards, please do! Gift cards to grocery stores  (Winco, Costco, Fred Meyer...) will allow us to supplement our Food Pantry.

CHAPMAN NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Please consider VOLUNTEERING at our school to support a wonderful 2025-2026 experience for our students!

So much of what makes Chapman a wonderful place is our community of volunteers, including event help and classroom assistance. Start by submitting your PPS volunteer application and background check. And then check out Chapman's volunteer portal for needs and opportunities.
